Running for public office is a civic duty for those who wish to represent the will of the people to the elected body of leaders. Dilara Sayeed, Candidate for State Representative of Illinois 5th District, has taken on the challenge of leadership both as a woman and a Muslim, facing discriminatory attitudes, suspicions, and even discouragement by those who have issues when it comes to women in leadership.
