How do we unlearn habits of hateful thinking, hateful speech, hateful behavior? We often don't realize that the hatred actually starts with us, with our judgement of others as having bad intentions toward us if they speak to us harshly, when in reality they may just be in a state of sadness or depression for some other reason. We judge people because of the clothes they wear, as if they must be lazy or lacking in self pride if they are not well dressed. What if they just lost everything in a house fire and had to borrow clothing? We are harsh and judgemental every day, sowing seeds of hatred with our thoughts. how do we unlearn such unloving behavior? How do we create habits of treating others with kindness that would contribute to peace?
