Chicago elected its first Black Female - and openly gay - Mayor, in a landslide vote for Lori Lightfoot, who won 74% of the vote to current Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle’s 26%. It was a decisive victory. How will a Lightfoot administration affect the intense and often openly hostile relationship between Chicago police and young black men? Today we talk to representatives from Books Over Balls, a youth mentoring program that has worked diligently to save young men from street violence. Fernando Vincent, Revin Fellows, Al Raiford and Thomas Wood join us as they prepare for a major fundraiser to finance this year’s program.
