When families are in distress, lacking food and a place to live, whether for self inflicted reasons or acts of nature, what is our individual and collective responsibility to help alleviate suffering? Today we talk to Cullis V. Flinn and he explains how he and his mother working with the organization Heartfield Chicago, come to the aid of families in distress. Sometimes poverty drives people to make poor life decisions, but should our response be judgement and condemnation or should it be compassion and assistance? How do you help those whose choices have led them to poverty, homelessness, unwanted pregnancies? Heartfield Chicago is giving others a chance to offer a helping hand to those in need with a fundraising event and a clothing and toy drive.  Later in the show, we'll talk to Michael C. Fountain, Honorary Consul, Honorary Consulgatee of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, who assisted Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in a major humanitarian effort to send bottles of clean drinking water and supplies to hurricane survivors in the Bahamas.
