It's official, Juneteenth is a National Paid Holiday. President Joe Biden signed it into law on June 17, 2021. Juneteenth did not end Slavery. It took a Constitutional Amendment to do that. There is much miseducation concerning it. It did not end Slavery because it only impacted states that had seceded from the United States and form another government. Since we derive our power by the consent of the governed and they no longer wanted to be governed...they had a right to secede. If you were not in Rebellious States, your slavery was still intact.
The Dred Scott Supreme Court Decision of 1857 that ruled Blacks have no rights that Whites were bound to respect, whether they were emancipated or not, so President Abraham Lincoln had no authority to end slavery but during wartime he could issue and Emancipation Proclamation that lasted as long as the war went on. This is just some of the things that is not clear. Tune in on Saturday, June 26, 2021, W.I.S.D.O.M. with Mamadee to find out more historical facts.
