It became a global movement for human rights, and athe song "We Shall Overcome" became the theme song for every liberation movement throughout the world. How did Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. eveolve into an international figure of such gigantic proportions? How did his tactic of nonviolent direct action affect those resisting the movemet for integratipn and racial equality? How were nonviolent protesters trained to take blows and not fight back?
