Monday Morning Mindfulness will be joined by Galen Tyler is a nationally and internationally recognized anti-poverty and human rights advocate. Originally from Virginia, Tyler is a veteran of the U.S. Army, has been a homeless father, and gained notoriety with Kensington Welfare Rights Union and Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign while moving homeless families into abandoned government-owned houses in order to survive. He has traveled internationally to meet with poor people’s movements, and has appeared in numerous documentary films that highlight his work. Tyler was most recently instrumental in launching the Poor People’s Army, which is building a nonviolent force outside the nonprofit industrial complex to challenge corporate power and reclaim the basic necessities of life for poor and working people.
Later, Brandon Pope, President of the National Association of Black Journalists Chicago Chapter, will join us to discuss the upcoming NABJ National Convention scheduled to start Wednesday this week in Chicago.
