It's My Story to Tell is a story of conscience, courage, and a devote faith in God to reveal a secret so disturbing that it could threaten the very foundation of a family, but this is also a call to arms to address childhood sexual abuse that many children in America are facing at this very moment in time. The author opens up in this raw and thought-provoking memoir to recount a time in her childhood when she was sworn to secrecy to not reveal several incidents of inappropriate behavior within her family; a family that demanded to project an image of perfection. The person who abused her was someone that she loved and trusted to protect her. The author details her journey through those times in her childhood and does it at the risk of causing more pain and separation in her family, but she does it to remind readers that secrets, like the one she kept for years, can destroy a life and prevent healing from starting.
