The Willard Asylum was built after the American Civil War to house and treat the mentally ill in New York State. Its history is tragic and haunting. I'll discuss how the institution started with good intention, the horrors that became life within its walls and how those who died there are now forever resting in anonymity. I will also share the stories of a few inmates.
