We might feel angry - at God, at whoever we see as the cause of our hardship. This attitude will not allow for relief from the pain. An attitude of higher understanding, viewing the hardship as part of a purification process that will result in bringing us into right relationship with ourself and the life we have fashioned for ourself - this brings on immediate relief and we begin to view ourself in a clearer light.
