Mrs. Shockley, President, Lawnside Historical Society talks with the Gist of Freedom host, Jamaal Brown about this wonderful event taking place in the historical Underground Railroad town of Lawnside. Founded by Freed Blacks in the 1800's Lawnside remains governed by African Americans. Jamaal and Mrs. Shockley discuss the struggles and victories of Freed Blacks, such as NJ's gradual Emancipation Laws.
