Abolitionist, Charles Sumner's Bloody Kansas "Ballot Box" Speech, resulted in him being beaten on the floor of Congress. A beating so severe, it took him three years to recover. Our guest, the director of The Museum of African American History, Beverly Morgan Welch lectures on this pivotal incident, one of a series, which led o the Civil War .

Mrs. Welch will discuss the Museum of African American History's popular Underground Railroad Overnight Adventures as well as the acquisition of the Florence Higginbotham House on Nantucket. Beverly is on the Board of Directors of the Boston History Collaborative and is a member of both the Colonial Society of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Historical Society.
