Felix Sanabria, Awo Orunmila Ifamola omo odun Oshebile, Olo Obatala Igbinlaye is a Babalawo and percussionist who has been performing and recording for over thirty-five years with the most renown musicians in the Afro-Caribbean, Latin, Afro-Pop and Jazz diaspora including Lazaro Ros, Afro-Cuba de Matanza, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, Puntilla y su Nueva Generacion, Kubata, Sonido Isleño and Aqua Ife. Felix has also appeared in films and TV including Calle 54, NBC TV’s Third Watch series, WXTV, WNET, and WNYE. As the musical director of the Afro-Caribbean ensemble Los Afortunados Mr. Sanabria has conducted lecture/ demonstrations, performances and workshops for public schools, colleges, universities and arts organizations including the Department of Education in New York City, NYU, Columbia University, Rutgers, Brown, Yale, The Smithsonian, the Brooklyn Arts Council, Arts Connection, Citylore and Community Works. He has also received various grants from NYSCA, NEA, NJSCA to study and teach Afro-Caribbean music and drumming and has been engaged as a mentor for students at SUNY and CUNY colleges in the state of New York.
