Dr. Wilson, Ph.D. Political Science from the City Graduate Center, City University of New York  and he has been writing on the culture and development of Jamaican music as it relates to the diaspora for more than four decades. Currently he's the Dean of the Criminal Justice Graduate Program, Monroe College  Bronx, New York. Served as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Chairman Dept. of African American Studies, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Professor of Political Science, Dept. of African American Studies- John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Basil Wilson writes a weekly column for The New York Carib News. Received Everybody’s Caribbean Magazine Award, for his frequently columns and commentary as writer on cultural issues affecting the diaspora for Everybody’s Caribbean Magazine. Taught African-American History, Black Social and Intellectual Thought,  Race, Culture and Globalization and “The Making and Unmaking of a Culture of Violence in Jamaica”
