Host Shango Blake of T.R.U Skool Educational Consultants (Teaching Reading Uniquely to reverse under- performance) talks to Mrs. Kyeatta Hendricks. Kyeatta has had a great deal of success in her work with children. She is armed with the most recent educational methodologies and techniques and is always willing to share that knowledge and understanding with fellow teachers and school personnel. She works hard to bring the curriculum to life in her daily teaching. Most of the students entrusted to her care have shown significant academic progress in their classrooms. Other teachers seek her out to discuss student progress with her almost on a weekly basis. She is a local union chapter chair union leader for the United Federation of teachers(UFT). She is also a Community Activist in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey as a cohort of iReform, a group that informs and trains parents how to become advocates for their children and for the community when it comes to fixing the broken education system.
Shango Blake “The Hip Hop Principal” has taken Hip Hop and channeled it into a tool that got students excited about education and restored self-esteem. A project-based model for teaching valuable skills and lessons that resulted in a student created music video (Tribeca Film Festival). The success was unparalleled. An At Risk school experienced improved confidence, skyrocketing test scores and decreased violence. Through interactive dialogue with his audience and guests the mission is to educate ALL AT RISK communities. http://www.shangoblake.com/t-r-u-skool-page
