K9 Veterans Day is March 13th, a day when we honor the brave dogs that work alongside our servicemen and women at home and abroad. But despite their years of service, these hero dogs don’t always get the retirements they deserve — why?
Bob Bryant, Co-Founder of Mission K9 Rescue (MK9), a Working Dog Rescue in Houston, TX that has saved more than 1200 Military Working Dogs (MWD), Contract Working Dogs (CWD), and Police K9s while reuniting over 600 with their former handlers.
“You might think that all of our K9 Veterans are flown home to pomp and circumstance and given loving, caring, peaceful retirements,” says Bob. “Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. In fact, for many K9 veterans, it's the exact opposite.”
