Some of the J6 defendants were reportedly not released from a Washington, D.C. jail following President Donald Trump’s sweeping Executive Order offering full pardons, dismissals, or commutations to nearly all defendants. Senate Democrats have pushed back the schedule to consider the nomination of Pam Bondi, President Trump‘s nominee to be U.S. attorney general, by at least a week. Four lawsuits were filed in D.C. federal court on Monday, Jan. 20th, 2025, challenging the Department of Government Efficiency. Texas Rep. Chip Roy introduced legislation that would repeal the FACE Act. The Senate passed an amended version of the Laken Riley Act, with twelve Democrats joining the Republicans. President Trump issued an Executive Order looking to end "Birth Right" Citizenship. Twenty-two states with Democrat attorneys general sued Trump over the order, and Representative Brian Babin is set to introduce a bill this week that would end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens and put an end to “birth tourism.”
