Dr. K. Noel Amherd, also known by his Yorùbá name, Eni orísàn ní joba (The person whose destiny supports him becomes king), is a scholar, practitioner and author on Yorùbá Ifá and is also a practicing babaláwo (initiated diviner of Ifá). In recent years, as an outgrowth of the intersection between his professional Restorative Justice work and traditional African culture, Noel has been a volunteer chaplain at California’s San Quentin Federal Prison, regularly meeting with the “men in blue” who want to learn and worship Ifá and Òrìsà.
