Haunted Florida
We’ve touched on paranormal tales from Florida many times before. We’ve talked about the spirits that linger in Key West, and a scattering of other tales across the state, including a spirited flight out of Miami, a cursed highway that cuts across the state, a haunted campground outside Panama City Beach, and a grim specter on the Blackwater River.
All this just scratches the surface of the ghostly tales that are rooted deep in the limestone plateau that supports this subtropical strip of land. Florida was the 27th state to join the country in 1845, but the history associated with this land stretches back long before statehood was ever a consideration. For generations, the native people, the Spanish, and the British fought over this land, vying for control of its rich natural resources and strategic location. A bloody history belied by the joyous theme parks and sun-soaked beaches that Florida is best known for today.
Spirits linger on in this state from every chapter of its history, and we have several of their stories to share with you tonight…
