A time will come, says Paul that those living at that time will reject both the Father and the Son; in addition they will reject the Gospel. All these are wrapped up in the phrase "love of the truth"! People will reject this fact, that God so Loved the World that he gave his Son to die on the cross for all peoples sins. To this, God will as he told Israel through their prophet, "I will choose your delusions and bring your own fears upon you, for when I called you did not answer"! God thus speaks to that generation by "sending them a delusion" through the "Son of Perdition". So that all who love not the truth, but loved a lie; and not be saved. It is a warning to all men and all nations to as Psalms 2 says "kiss the Son, lest he be angry"!
