Stand up Jerusalem addresses a people that have been captive to their own rebellion and through Gods had of redemption are now out of their bonds. This week the freed captives are urged to Awaken, but in doing so they were to "Put on Strength." A captive people cannot do much, let alone praise their God if they are so oppressed, they cannot Stand up and accept what God has done. His blessing returned, now the true captives who held the title as Gods elect and owned the title to the inheritance God gave them must stand, accept it, and proclaim it. You cannot live, let alone worship, and praise your God if you are freed physically but still held captive in your mind and spirit. God commands them to Stand up!

Stand up #Jerusalem brings us to the second occurrence of the people to Awake. The previous was Awake, Awake, Stand up O Jerusalem found in Isaiah chapter fifty-one verses 17-19. This one happens in chapter fifty-two of Isaiah and verse one. We find Awake and stand up while this one says Awake put on thy strength. Further in this section Jerusalem is now addressed as #Zion and urged to put on "thy beautiful garments. Between these two sections the city, i.e., the people are told to Awake four times. There is no doubt, God's #redeeming #grace is at work here. They are still in the bonds of the memory of seventy years of #captivity. Shake off the captivity, shake off the slavery and #bondage. The answer as to why is that #Jehovah has rescued and #restored them. #StandupJerusalem
