Young children don’t usually set goals or even know what that means. They live one day at a time, and that’s a great thing for a child. Although goal setting is not something kids usually do, we can guide them to explore activities they might enjoy by asking questions. Is there something would you like to learn to do? What booksyou would like to read? If you were an inventor, what would create? Is there a place you would like to explore? Do you know how to . . . ? What happens if you . . . ? Of course questions are endless. Keep asking and let them ask questions too. Their questions will vary with their age, experiences, interests, and abilities.
