We have discussed during our "Healthy Mind" segments and found tons of research to support the idea that theatre and the arts are helpful to people suffering from mental illness. For someone who has been through a terrible experience, writing about it and working to prevent it from happening to others can be incredibly therapeutic as well.
Darknight Productions presents “You Don’t Know How It Feels” as part of the Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City - an honest and daring look at a student who is sexually assaulted by her teacher. The hope is to further the dialogue that will help end the stigma surrounding this crucial issue. This is a forthright and caring exploration of a young woman’s story reminding us how important it is to pay attention.
This play contains sexual violence, assault and abuse. It is not suitable for children under the age of sixteen.
