This week, Girls That Create host Erin Prather Stafford welcomes documentary filmmaker Amanda McBaine to the podcast. McBaine directed and produced the 2024 film Girls State with her partner, Jesse Moss. Streaming on Apple TV+, the film takes its name from the Girls State program, organized by American Legion Auxiliary departments across the U.S. Sessions are designed to educate and empower U.S. high school students who have completed their junior year and focus on exploring the mechanics of American government and politics.

Amanda McBaine is an American film director and producer. She has co-directed and produced Girls State (2024), Boys State (2020), and The Mission (2023) with Jesse Moss. She has additionally produced The Overnighters (2014), The Bandit (2016), and Mayor Pete (2021).
