“Instruction on the Resurrection” 1 Corinthians 15:12-32
Paul wanted them to know that Christ has risen.
Paul had been in Ephesus for more than two years on his third missionary journey when he received a disturbing report of quarreling within the Corinthian church, a report he received from people associated with one of its members, Chloe. The church he had founded so recently had already developed deep divisions. The Corinthian church was plagued by divisions. The believers in Corinth were dividing into groups loyal to certain spiritual leaders; they were approving an immoral relationship. The Corinthian believers were taking each other to court. Paul taught the Corinthians that it would be better to be taken advantage of than to damage their Christian testimony. Paul gave the Corinthian church instructions on marriage and celibacy, food sacrificed to idols, the Lord’s Supper, spiritual gifts, and he also included a profound teaching on the resurrection, just to name a few. Paul organized the book of 1 Corinthians by answering questions the Corinthian believers has asked him.
