The case of Juliana v. United States began during the Obama administration and continues to the present day. A group of children sued the Obama adminstration for failing to uphold environmental law. The case spans the Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations and if successful--could strip taxpayer subsidies from fossil fuel companies--among other changes. This case cuts to the essence of environmental rights vs. corporate interests. It is to our shame as a nation--that it took the children to bring this demand for justice to light.

Former Presidential appointee serving as Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Department of Veterans Affairs. Previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Executive Director, Public Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary (Acting) and Director, Media Relations for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Served as Chief Communication Officer, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, an Arlington, Virginia-based not-for-profit. Former Congressional Candidate Darren Aquino Talks About Our Political Climate
When Darren was in his twenties, he was a struggling, young father with a disability. He was trying to navigate through the bureaucracy of the social services system, and was having great difficulty. One day that all changed when he decided to send a mail gram to President Reagan.
Darren explained his situation, that he didn’t choose to be disabled, that he wanted to be a productive citizen, and that he would give his life for his country if he had to. President Reagan responded. He assigned Charlene, the agency liaison to the President, who was able to assist and expedite. Darren was given access to other departments, was given a 4 year scholarship for college, and thus, began his career as an advocate for other disabled. Darren is a disabled American, who began advocating for himself and others in 1983, for Social Security claims and other disability rights, such as fair and equal treatment, which is a fundamental right as per the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Since then, Darren Aquino has spent his life dedicated to helping Americans who fell left out and unwanted, making sure they received fair treatment in the system. Darren will fight for lower-taxes, equality, and justice for the state of Florida and the United States. Join political commentator Chauncey I.
