On this week's episode of A Kind Voice on Books, host Erin Rae is joined by author Charlotte Gullick to discuss her wonderful book, By Way of Water. Winner of the Santa Fe Writers Project Literary Awards Program, Charlotte's book is a haunting account of one poverty-striken family in the American Northwest during the tranistional period of American history in the late 1960s and early 70s. Erin Rae is elated to get a chance to ask Charlotte about her main character, Justy, a silent and solemn child who says nothing but sees everything, about the outside forces of religion and heritage that threaten to pull Justy's family apart, and about the strong thematic trend of flowing water we find all throughout the story. To ask Charlotte your own questions about her book, you can call in between 7:00PM and 8:00PM, EST, Wednesday, May 11, at 347-850-8907, or you can email your questions ahead of time to books@akindvoice.org, and then listen to the archived version of this show for her answer at your convenience. We hope to hear from you!
