Singer/songwriter Noel Paul Stookey has been altering both the musical and ethical landscape of this country and the world for decades—both as the “Paul” of the legendary Peter, Paul and Mary and as an independent musician who passionately believes in bringing the spiritual into the practice of daily life. Funny, irreverently reverent, thoughtful, compassionately passionate, Stookey’s voice is known all across this land: from the “Wedding Song” to “In These Times.”

Join WORDS-MAKE-PEOPLE on Sun. Dec. 20, 2020 from 1-3 pm EST for an open-mike discussion on "How Muslims Navigate the Christmas Season and What Do They Tell Their Children?"
Muslim Americans are numerically a minority in our American society. Most of our immediate family tend to be Christian; individuals who follow the dominant trends in our society. So what do we, as Muslims, teach our children about Christmas and the Holiday Season that is full of Christmas carols and plump Santa Clauses?
We like to hear from Muslims parents who themselves were born Muslim, therefore, they too grew up without Christmas in their house. How do they explain this Christmas season to their new families?
IMAM W.D. MOHAMMED said on Dec 12, 1999 - "The Christian's holy day, Christmas. A day that we should respect and a day that we should share at least their goodness and their spirit of rejoicing and purity, we should share that with them. I'm telling you this not because you don't do that; but too many of us are afraid to do things because we think our religion forbids it. Your religion only forbids that you break the law of Islam. You're not breaking the law of Islam if you be kind to a Christian neighbor and say happy holidays, a blessed Christmas to you. A blessed Christmas to you, that's not breaking your religion, that's doing what Muhammad the prophet would like for us to do and what he did. He treated Christians with respect, he ordered his followers to protect their churches against people who didn't have any respect for holy things."

I had an idea to create a podcast to interview many individuals who are born and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida, my hometown. After reading the book ACRES OF DIAMONDS by Russell Conwell, I am convinced we are all leaving the diamond mines in our own back yards as we travel around the world looking for larger diamonds, when in fact the diamonds we seek are found within us and our hometown, from whence we came. Therefore, we are calling the podcast, #IAMRIVIERABEACH.
Our vision is to shed a bright light on the wonderful, smart, talented individuals from our great city,
