Singer, guitarist, songwriter/composer Eliane Amherdis a true cosmopolitan artist: Born in Switzerland, she lives in New York, and it is that city’s savvy multicultural energy that most influences her original music: jazzy, groovy and rooted in African, Brazilian and Latin music. Inventive, enchanted yet earthy. Hailed as “one of the very best singers in New York” by trumpeter Randy Brecker, Amherd is an equally talented lyricist whose words and music are as refreshing as the air of the Swiss Alps where she was raised.

A graduate of NYC's New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Amherd has performed in New York’s premiere clubs like SOB’s, Subrosa, BBKing, BAM, Blue Note, to name a few and has toured all over the world: North- and South America, Canada, Europe and Asia, where she appeared in international Festivals in China, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal and Mongolia. She composed, arranged and produced her albums “Skylines” and “Now and from Now on” which continue to receive great press reviews and have topped the play lists of several US Radio Stations. As well as the Swiss Miss Sampler “heimweh”, featuring renown Swiss artists. This successful recording has earned her many interviews on Switzerland’s radio and TV stations. In 2013 she was a candidate of the first edition of "the Voice of Switzerland” and in 2017 she was the runner up for "best Singer Songwriter in Switzerland" at the Montreux Jazz Festival. She plays guitar in several NYC bands and is the musical director of the "Frauenstimmen Festival" in her home town Brig, featuring female acts.
