The Ugly Side of Adoption: Failed Adoption Matches, Disruptions and Dissolutions Part 2

Regarding the financial aspect of a disruption.  Our attorney has been very strict about not deviating from our contract.    What many adoptive families don’t understand is why they don’t get refunded their money in these situations.  What financially goes into an adoption includes:

  • Agency insurance
  • legal fees
  • Investigation services
  • Birth father notification services
  • Case management for both the birth mother and adoptive family
  • Agency overhead costs

In this Podcast, listen to our Director of Operations, Adam Scarry discuss what happens  financially when adoptions don't have a happy ending.  Some of the topics he will be addressing are:

  • What role do you play in dealing with failed adoption plans?
  • Why do adoptive families reach out to you after they are unhappy with the answers they receive from their case worker?
  • What have you learned from working with adoptive families during this difficult time?
