Screenwriter/singer/actress/director Lonette McKee will talk with host Deardra Shuler about her upcoming engagement in the Oak Room at the Algonquin hotel April 5-30. Ms McKee's movies include Sparkle, Cuba, Which Way is Up, Brewster's Millions, The Cotton Club and Gardens of Stone for Francis Coppola. She worked with Robert DeNiro and Cuba Gooding, Jr., in Men of Honor and Round Midnight for French filmmaker Bertrand Tavenier. She was also in Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, He Got Game and She Hate Me for Spike Lee. Television includes Women of Brewster Place with Oprah Winfrey, for which she received an NAACP nomination, "Third Watch," Having Our Say, "Queen," and For Love of Olivia, opposite Louis Gossett Jr. Lonette received an NAACP nomination for her appearances on "As The World Turns," a Tony nomination for best actress in a musical on Broadway and a Drama Desk nomination for her heartbreaking portrayal of Billie Holiday.
