Deardra talks with actor, director, acting coach, Richard Lawson who began his professional experience in No Place to Be Somebody with Ben Vereen and Philip Michael Thomas. He received drama critic awards for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Streamers. He appeared in Fool for Love, Checkmates, The Mighty Gents and The Exonerated. Mr. Lawson's films include For Colored Girls, Poltergeist, Streets of Fire, Stick, The Main Event, Coming Home, Audrey Rose, Wag the Dog and How Stella Got Her Groove Back to name a few. He was a series regular on The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Dynasty, Wiseguy, Amen, Parenthood, St. Elsewhere, Picket Fences, Judging Amy, The Division and NYPD Blue. He was Lucas Barnes on All My Children. He directed: No Place to Be Somebody, Othello, Death of a Salesman, Chicago, Driving Miss Daisy, Unfaithful, and The Fisher. He created a Revolutionary school, called The RL Studios where he empowers actors and other artists to achieve their dreams by teaching them a skill set that helps them create the evidence necessary to show others what they can do. He will be featuring free open classes on Friday, June 17th at 8:00 p.m., at the Odyssey Theater Ensemble and on Saturday, June 18th.
