Host Deardra Shuler welcomes to her Topically Yours show, author BERNICE L. McFADDEN, best known for her books "Sugar" and "Glorious."
Ms. McFadden is the author of seven critically acclaimed novels, which were featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, selected as the debut title for the One Book, One Harlem program, and was a finalist for the NAACP Image Award. She is a two-time Hurston/Wright Legacy Award finalist, as well as the recipient of two fiction honor awards from the BCALA.
She has written Nowhere Is A Place, Keeper of Keys, Camilla's Roses, Loving Donovan and This Bitter Earth. Bernice McFadden is a writer whose work should be read not only as part of African American literature but as part of world literature. Her stories get to the heart of the human experience which exists throughout the mortal coil.
Her sophomore novel, The Warmest December, was praised by Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison as "searing and expertly imagined."
McFadden is an imaginative storyteller whose tales leave her readers wanting more.
Bernice McFadden lives in Brooklyn, New York. She had an interest in fashion merchandising and travel before she found her niche as a writer. In 1999, McFadden left her job in the corporate world to be a full time writer and has never looked back.
Her upcoming book is entitled Gathering of Waters.
