Host Deardra Shuler talks with singers and mother and daughter, Melba Joyce and Carmen Bradford, about their first appearance together in New York's Aaron Davis Hall in NYC. The ladies will celebrate the season with jazz tunes and holiday favorites. Melba Joyce earned her chops as a featured vocalist with the Count Basie Orchestra for 9 years. She performed with several jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong and Sarah Vaughn. Carmen Bradford teamed with singer/composer Kenny Rankin for the Benny Carter Songbook Project making history. Carmen was chosen to sing “Key Largo” for this Grammy Award-winning album. She sang on the soundtrack for Oprah Winfrey’s “Beloved,” and recently starred in the title role of Duke Ellington’s Folk Opera “Queenie Pie” at the University of Texas, Butler School of Music. Her 2004 release, “Home With You,” (Azica Records) is a warm and beautiful collection of piano/vocal duets with talented artist Shelly Berg. Tickets to “My Mother and Me,” Holiday Celebration, on Friday, December 16th at 7:00 p.m., can be acquired by calling the Aaron Davis Hall box office at 212-650-6900.
