Legendary actress of stage and screen, Miss Ruby Dee, tallks with host Deardra Shuler about her upcoming "Spoken Word," show, staged and produced by Curtis King, who will also grace the show to talk about Miss Dee's appearance at the Apollo Theatre, located at 253 West 125th St in Harlem on Mother's Day, May 13th at 5:00 p.m.  An actress, screenwriter, playwright and poet, Dee has appeared in scores of productions.  She co-starred in A Raisin in the Sun and  appeared in American Gangster.  She has won a Grammy, Emmy, Obie, Drama Desk, Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award.  She appeared in Roots, the Guiding Light, Golden Girls and The Fugitive, et al. A denizen of the theatre and well known activist, Dee and her late husband, Ossie Davis, were actors, authors, storytellers and recording artists.  Dee and Davis co-wrote the book, "With Ossie and Ruby: In This Life Together."

Producer Curtis King is the founder of the Black Academy of Arts and Letters. He produced The Blues Bar and Symphony with the Divas. He taught theatre at Shaw U.  King holds a Masters in theatre and has worked with artists Dionne Warwick, Erykah Badu and Oleta Adams, etc. See wwww.tbaal.org
