Topically Yours - Actor Kene Holliday

Deardra Shuler will interview Kene Holliday who came to prominence when he appeared in "Carter Country" co-starring as Sgt Curtis Baker.  He went on to play the private investigator, Tyler Hudson, opposite Andy Griffith on the popular show "Matlock" which ran on both NBC and ABC.

Engaged in sports in high school, Holliday went on to play collegiate football at the University of Maryland at College Park. While there, he discovered the Drama Dept. and distinguished himself as the first African American to star in lead roles at the university.

Kene was a founding member of Folger Theater Group for 3 years. Also a founding member of the D.C. Black Repertory Company.

The author of a book of contemporary poetry entitled "The Book of K-lll: The Contemporary Poetics of Kene Holliday," Mr. Holliday's volume of work includes "Hill Street Blues," "Law and Order," "Benson," "Soap," "Diagnosis Murder," "The Chicago Story,"  "Lou Grant," "The Wayans Brothers Show," "Perry Mason, "Quincy,"  "Doogie Howser," "The Josephine Baker Story," "The Philadelphia Experiment," "Roots II", The Profilier and the "District," etc.  In 2007, he performed in the movie "Great World of Sound."

Kene is the founding artistic director of Moto Theatre Works where he presently works with the theatre specializing in writing, videographing and staging the company's work.  He is also associated with Walk on Water Productions.

He became a traveling evangelist with his wife, Linda, where he preached the gospel and performed in gospel musicals while exploring his spirituality.  A caretaker for his mother who suffered from Alzheimers, Kene worked with and became a member of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
