Host Deardra Shuler interviews Alison Mills Newman who was born on Long Island, New York but raised in LA. She began acting at 12 years old. She guest starred in “Mr. Novak,” the “John Forsythe Show,” “The Love Boat,” “Room 222,” and “Rap Up.” An original cast member of the historic television series, “Julia,” starring Diahann Carroll, Alison played the babysitter Carol Derring. She was also an original cast member of, “The Leslie Uggams Show,” playing Leslie’s sister Oletha, on a segment titled “Sugarhill.” A graduate of St. Stephens University, with a B.A in Theology, Alison was the former Pastor of “Keep the Faith Ministries” and co-hosted KTYM’s radio program “Seeing a Vision,” in LA. Now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, she lectures at the Black Women’s Wellness Center, Spellman College. She teaches acting and continues to preach the gospel on the internet, films and in various churches.
