Host Deardra Shuler interviews hip hop artist Kurtis Blow. Mr. Blow is the first commercially successful hip hop artist to be signed to a major record label. His hit single THE BREAKS from his 1980 debut album was the first certified gold record rap song. Throughout his career Mr. Blow has released over 15 albums and is currently an ordained minister. As a producer, Kurtis Blow was behind the hits of artists like The Fat Boys, Run DMC, Full Force, Russell Simmons and Wyclef Jean.
On Saturday, May 9th, Mr. Blow will be participating in a concert at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. The event celebrates the 38th Anniversary of the legendary Bronx nightclub Disco Fever and will be a show night of OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP as part of this Fever Re-Union Throw-Back Concert.
