Deardra Shuler interviews author Shareef A. Bailey about his book "Rio in Retrospect: An American Discovery in Brazil" Vol 1.  Mr. Bailey has written a 3-Volume exploration of his experiences in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The series explores the many exciting sites, sounds, cities and people of Brazil. The stories document the experiences of the author, his American and Brazilian friends, and their adventures in Brazil. Each volume chronicles the stories, lives and discoveries of what life is like in Brazil from a genuine American perspective.

A native of Newark, New Jersey, Bailey currently lives in central Maryland where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Morgan State University and his Masters of Education degree from Bowie State University. As an educator, he has worked as a teacher, guidance counselor and administrator in the public schools and in the National Job Corps Program. As a multicultural instructor, he has taught and conducted cultural seminars and workshops throughout the United States. Shareef is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in education administration and has developed plans to open a cultural education center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
