Host Deardra Shuler speaks with Dr LaJoyce Brookshire who is an ordained Pastor, a Doctor of Naturopathy, Doctor of Naturopathic Ministry, Master Herbalist, Best-Selling Author, Hospital Chaplain, and Certified Group Fitness Instructor. LaJoyce is a former Director of Publicity at Arista Records. She represented The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, Sean "Diddy" Combs, OutKast, Toni Braxton, 112, Deborah Cox, Whitney Houston, and The Notorious B.I.G. She is the best-selling author of the novels Soul Food (that was based on the smash hit movie), suspense drama Web of Deception, and the memoir Faith Under Fire: Betrayed By A Thing Called Love. A book outlining her marriage to a down low man who knowingly had AIDS but never told her. LaJoyce is taking her true life story to the stage. The production opens Off-Broadway at the National Black Theater, August 18-21, 2016 with a Church Tour to follow. Each performance will end with a “Talk Back” with the audience, writers, and community HIV Direct Care providers. There will also be HIV testing on-site and counselors. Brookshire lives in the Poconos with her present husband and their child.
