The Saturday Morning Entertainment Show

In what is almost in the twinkling of an eye January of 2023 is almost half way through. The biggest season of celebration is over but the Caribbean Global Voices always has reasons to celebrate on the Saturday Morning Entertainment Show with host Ivor Henry. The world will celebrate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King whose birthday comes up on January 15th but will be celebrated on the 16th since the 15th is a Sunday. Many will remember one of the great icons of the Civil Rights Movement. As the keynote speaker at the march or Washington in the summer of 1963 his address has been immortalized in the words, "I Have a Dream". 

But even as Dr. King's memory is observed by his relentless protest against racial oppression and his insistence on non-violent rebellion, members of the LA Police Department have beaten Keenan Anderson, a D.C. school teacher, to death. All too familiar circumstance of an unarmed Black man murdered by police officers. In the words of Robert Nestor Marley, "Where did all begin, when will it end? It seems like total destruction is the only solution.

Remember last week we talked about Justice Richard Bernstein of the Michigan Supreme who lambasted the first Black female justice to the court because she hired a young man who has served time in prison as her law clerk. This week Justice Berstein came back with his apology. What is this apology worth? Does the apology mean that Justice Berstein has changed the way he truly feels? I would bet not. So let's talk.
