Jesus' Birthday Celebration

Wendesday, we are honoring the birth Jesus of Nazareth's birth (August 21 according to The Urantia Book as well as other historical documents). Preston Thomas (link to bio), joins us this week. Joining Preston and host, Ann Garner, are Dr. Chris Halvorson (link to bio) (including the "Symmetry of Soul" segment) and James Woodward (link to bio) (including "The Friendly Universe" segment).
    Preston produced The Life and Teachings of Jesus, a remarkable book, with the assistance of Larry Watkins. The book is the result of a nine year effort to concentrate the Bible verses associated with Jesus into one volume. Each occurrence of his life is treated individually, and then arranged in a chronological sequence. Thus, it presents Jesus’ life and teachings as they actually took place, from birth through death and resurrection. This format promotes a better understanding of Jesus’ real life and his original gospel of the kingdom. Helpful explanatory notes are generously supplied.
   An exhaustive index enables readers to quickly find what Jesus said concerning any topic. Also included is a list of Jesus’s parables, miracles, and teachings outlining his philosophy of living. Preston writes, "Following Jesus' guidelines for living provides direction and stability, while transforming our lives."
   Preston holds a BA and MA degree in philosophy from the University of Virginia. After college he worked for 10 years as a private tutor for children with learning disabilities. In 1981 he founded the Einstein School which provides one to one instruction for students with special learning needs. He has two grown sons, and lives in Earlysville, Virginia with his wife, Kathy.
