In this episode of Donell Edwards: VIEWPOINTS, we receive an inside look into the myriad of problems within the United States correctional system. Some of the areas we will explore include: What type of corruption exists; why it is necessary for correctional officers need to take a stand against corruption; the challenges and dangers faced by honest correctional officers; radicalization of inmates; what ALEC is, and the prison commercial complex.
Our special guest is the author of the books, Corruption Behind Bars, and Inside the Inner Circle, Mr. Gary York. After serving in the United States Army in the Military Police Corps, Mr. York began his career with the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. He was later promoted to probation officer and then senior probation officer. He was promoted once again to senior prison inspector where for the next twelve years he conducted criminal, civil and administrative investigations in many state prisons. Gary was also assigned to the Inspector General Drug Interdiction Team conducting searches of staff and visitors entering the prisons for contraband during weekend prison visitation.
