The Don S. McClure Show Live - Black History & Family History - Admire and honor Both.

This is the month of February, to pay honor to Black History Month created in 1926 in the United States.  Historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History announced the second week of February to be "Negro History Week". And later it was changed to Black History Month. For 92 years we have celebrated the victories, debated over our defeats as a people and wanted the world to remember our history as a people of great pride and determination. I always have celebrated Black History month as a proud African-American, but I always give honor to my family history which is my Black History that is celebrated 365 days throughout the year. Family history is the most important Black history there is.
Just as important to display the images of those who have done great things to improve our lot in life, the images of Great Grand Parents, Grand Parents and parents have an even greater value in the life of a family. For it was those individuals who created your personal history, and they should be remembered with as much zeal as those other names and images that we celebrate as our icons.  I admire our great figures both female and male who gave much, but I will always hold above all my legacy as my Black History First and foremost and display the images of my ancestors along with the names of others as my icons.
