Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. And imitation of Black women's style is exactly what one sees when they open their Instagram app, or turn on their TV to the latest music video, or flip through a magazine. But being placed on such a high pedestal of admiration is dangerous, because when you deify someone, you strip of them of their humanity--and strip yourself of any obligation to respect that person for the human being that they are.
