It was a Trump Campaign promise in 2016 to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as ObamaCare. Republicans throughout his four year tenure in office had promised that ObamaCare would be repealed. In this lame duck session of Congress and the Senate and now having packed the SCOTUS with their appointees, Republicans are about to further do themselves in; canceling the Affordable Care Act in the midst of a pandemic.
This is political theatre at it's best.
