Interview with Sarah Sams, MD, FAAFP, new President of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians about her life and family medicine career and the challenges facing her as a leader. We will discuss her unique experience with her Guardian Angel and her commitment to the woman who became her angel. Her story includes migration from Iowa to Columbus, Ohio to job to medical school. She will mention the challenges facing Family Medicine in Ohio and the challenges facing physicians in training and their faculty. Dr Sams is Associate Director of the Grant Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Columbus. She is renowned for her love of her patients and passionately advocates for them and her specialty. She quilts in her spare time when not playing softball. She shares a message of commitment, leadership and hope to patients and family physicians. We will mention her model of LOVE to lead the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians in these times of great health care change. We will discuss her use of social media including a need for increased patient roles.
