Dr Synonymous introduction and disclaimer followed by blog review: Dr Fatty Finds Fitness has a meaningful Valentine's Day post about loving self and others. The med students (Chris wrote this one) at The Future of Family Medicine blog wrote about primary care physician shortages, underserved areas, medical school admissions committees, loan forgiveness and how to get future med students who will go into primary care. Dr S reads from The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman from the section on Receiving Gifts, with a focus on money and physical presence. He notes the list of 10 actions by a person whose mate likes to receive gifts as expressions of the mate's love. In The Common Sense Family Doctor, Kenny Lin, MD wrote about Don Berwick, MD, head of CMS Medicare and Medicaid) who is getting grilled by Congress in hearings. Dr Berwick is quoted in his speech to med students about useless policies that impair patient experiences that med students have to replace or ignore. Dr Synonymous then reviews a new Stroke prevention guideline that recommends use of Emergency Departments in stroke prevention- another sign of the primary care workforce shortage. Then Dr Anonymous blog post of 2/14 notes the 1986 Revolution in the Philippines. Lastly, Dr S comments on his 2/14 post about the Human Centered Health Home: Building Trust by Sharing Patient and Physician Uncertainty.
