New film, panel discussion, to explore Mumia verdict, inequities in modern criminal justice system One of Pennsylvania's most renowned death row cases will be retried in the court of public opinion beginning with a special screening and panel discussion of "Justice on Trial" History professor Johanna Fernandez and filmmaker Kouross Esmaeli deliver a primer on the nearly 30-year-old case in Justice, raising fundamental questions about the workings of the criminal justice system and the Abu-Jamal case - from sentencing to subsequent appeals. Justice frames the legal and factual arguments for reasonable doubt about the fairness of the guilty verdict, a discussion that will be continued after the screening with veteran journalists Linn Washington, Dave Lindorff and attorney Michael Coard. WHAT: Media preview of Justice on Trial, followed by "In the Interest of Justice," a panel discussion to explore the issues of bias and inequities in the criminal justice system.
