Please note: There is a short interruption as I accidently disconnected the show near the beginning.

In unions with very little connection between members and elected leaders, announcements about union dues, special dues or anything that will increase the amount of money taken out of paychecks causes loud protest. The answer from officials is always "we raise dues because it is required according to Local and ATU International bylaws."

At Local 241 and 308 we have no Contract and very little hope that we will have better working conditions and pay for working through the pandemic. So some argue that if we are so strict about following the bylaws about dues, what about the other bylaws? If we adhere to the dues bylaws, then surely we are abiding to the other bylaws, right?

No we are not.
